Living The Good Life

Those of you reading this will no doubt note that it has been some time since I've updated this blog with anything new. It is a sad fact that I've quite simply not had the time.
The upkeep of this blog, as much as I enjoy writing it, has increasingly been moved lower and lower on my priority levels. My meandering reflections on the nature of faith, of life and love; of truth, goodness and beauty have not ceased, but my willingness to spend time formulating them in such a manner as to make them publishable (even if only on a poorly frequented blog site such as my own) has decereased significantly with the changing situation of my life (work, leisure, relationships etc.).
One thought that continues to entertain me is the beauty and joy of the truly Catholic life. This is wonderfully captured in an article written by John Allen in the squallid rag of a paper, the NCR. (Don't let its source put you off, the quote is really quite good!)

"Fundamentally, I don't think the Catholic church gets enough credit for being a hell of a lot of fun. There's great warmth and laughter in most Catholic circles, a rich intellectual tradition, a vast body of lore, an incredible range of characters, a deep desire to do good, an abiding faith against all odds, an ability to go anywhere and feel instantly at home, and even a deep love of good food, good drink, and good company. All that is part of the tapestry of Catholic life, but it rarely sees the light of day in commentary and reporting that focuses exclusively on crisis, scandal, and heartache."

Really that was all I felt worth sharing at this juncture. I hope it inspires you to enjoy the life that you've been given as much as it has me.

Ave Maria!
